Graduate Programs

Degree Programs

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers three degree programs in Systems Control. The Master of Applied Science degree is a research degree, while the Master of Engineering degree is intended for those who may already be working in industry and wish to pursue graduate studies in control part-time. The Doctor of Philosophy program has as its main requirement the presentation of a thesis reporting independent and original research.

Academic Session

The academic session generally runs from mid-September to mid-April with a two week break starting near the end of December. The Department's academic curriculum is arranged on a term basis with courses running from September to December (Fall Term) and from January to April (Spring Term).

Research Assistantships

Funds in this category are usually obtained by a professor to be used for some specific research problem. The professor then may make an award to a student to carry out portions of the research work under her/his supervision. Usually this work constitutes part of the thesis work of the student.
