SCOPE/TOPIC OF INTEREST

The aim of this meeting is to bring together engineers and scientists who are concerned with system dynamics and control. It is hoped that this congress will stimulate cross-fertilization of different disciplines involved in various aspects of engineering systems and promote the fundamentals as well as industrial applications in telecommunications and computer networks, and systems involving mechanical/manufacturing engineering, civil engineering, aerospace engineering, ocean, chemical engineering, biomedicine, and industrial engineering. Topics of particular interest, but not limited to, include the following:

Control and Automation: Optimal and adaptive control, distributed parameter systems, nonlinear control, estimation and filtering, robust control, system identification, stochastic systems, intelligent control, fuzzy control systems, neuro control, genetic computing, mechantronics, signal processing, aerospace applications, intelligent highway systems, flexible structures.

Manufacturing: Distributed virtual manufacturing, rapid prototyping, concurrent engineering, production planning and control, knowledge-based CAD, sensor-based closed loop manufacturing, machine tool characterization, autonomous assembly, applications of PLC, fuzzy logic, and intelligent control methods.

Robotics: Robot kinematics and dynamics, trajectory planning, perception, multiple robot systems, mobile robots and legged machines, underwater robotics, robots in space, micro robots, health-care applications.

Structures and Material: Biomechanics including computational biomechanics, bone-implant interaction, modeling and simulation of bone fracture, knee instability, hip joint biomechanics, metallic implants, stability analysis of walking. smart material and structures, seismic loading and isolation, composite materials, contact/friction, fracture and fatigue, micromechanical systems, multibody systems, stability and vibration of structures, elasticity, wave propagation in structures, applications in civil, aeronautical, vehicles, shipbuilding, pulp and paper, plastics, medical and electronic inductries.

Communication: Modeling of ATM and LAN and WAN, fiberoptic communication, dynamics of codes and lattices, source and channel codeing, wave propagation, remote sensing, electromagnetic noise and interference, network swtiching, optimal routing, failure detection, broadband satellite/wireless communication, photonic interconnection systems, multirate wireless data access, electronic commerce.

Multimedia: Expert media, digital libraries, multimedia in health-care and distant education, multimedia programming, audio and video compression, maniputation of video images, warping and morphing, video based gesture recognition, man-machine interface, 3D image coding and presentation.
