Research HighlightFrom financial markets to generative AI to stormwater runoff, noisy processes are all around us. My research focuses on developing new ways to manage noisy processes, using tools from control theory, risk analysis, and optimization. I am particularly interested in accounting for possibilities outside of what we expect to happen. Mathematically speaking, such possibilities appear in the tails of a probability distribution instead of near the average. My work in control theory has applications to many risk-prone areas, including stormwater management, cancer treatment, and robotics.
